1 dead, 1 injured in Maryland motorcycle accident

On Sunday, Aug. 25, a man was killed and a woman was badly injured in a motorcycle accident near Sabillasville.
According to the Maryland State Patrol, the motorcycle accident happened around 12:30 p.m. when the man and woman were southbound on Route 550. Apparently, the man lost control of his motorcycle as he was rounding a curve. It is not known how fast he was going at the time, but both he and the woman were thrown from the bike.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to a local hospital. We sincerely wish her the best as she recuperates.
Now, at this time, not everything is known about how and why this accident ocurred. Generally speaking, however, in situations like this, the injured party (in this case, the woman) may want to explore whether any legal options exist against the estate of the driver.
If a motorcycle or car accident was the fault of the driver, the injured party might have a cause of action against the driver (or, if the driver is deceased, his or her estate). That means the injured party might have a chance of seeking recovery for his or her medical expenses, lost wages, and the like. Many injured people have a difficult time resuming the life they lived before they were hurt, so damages awarded to ameliorate these unplanned expenses can be very helpful.
Every accident and every legal case that might stem from it is unique. If you are interested in exploring your legal options, one way to do that is to contact us.
