3 Tips on How to Avoid Motorcycle Accidents During the Winter

Are you a motorcycle addict? Driving a motorcycle in the winter comes with certain responsibilities. You need to take the necessary precautions to reduce the risk of getting into a motorcycle accident. Here are some tips to stay safe.

Dress Smartly

When the temperature is below freezing, it’s easy to for any uncovered areas of your body to get numb and frozen. If that happens, it can cause fatigue and loss of concentration. On the other hand, if you dress too warmly, you may feel overheated and get drowsy. Make sure to dress warmly and smartly.

Watch Out

During the winter, you need to have more vigilance than usual. You need to keep your eyes on the road and watch out for any ice. Black ice and sheets of ice hidden under snow are particularly hard to spot. In addition, new cracks in a familiar road may appear because of snow plows. It also gets dark earlier, and you need to watch out for pedestrians walking in the early evening.

Keep Your Traction

When your tires freeze, they lose their traction. Make sure that your tires always have enough air before you set out (just be aware that too much air can cause you to lose traction as well). Salt from the road will stick to your tires and also cause them to lose their traction, so keep washing down your tires.
