Germantown Woman Dies 10 Days After Traffic Accident

Late last month, a Germantown woman died as a result of injuries she suffered in a traffic accident some 10 days earlier.
As I see it, this is a tragic example of how the full fallout of a car accident sometimes isn’t apparent until a significant amount of time has passed. This is why I caution all my readers against assuming that everything is fine after a car accident (even a small one) or — worse yet — making statements right after a car crash that would seem to indicate the other driver is off the hook, so to speak.
According to CBS DC, the 71-year-old woman was involved in a three-car collision on Oct. 11. She was traveling on Clopper Road near Rockville when she collided with a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Germantown man. The wreckage created by those two cars was then struck by a 46-year-old Germantown man.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Rockville and Maryland state authorities.
Evidently, the 61-year-old man was taken to a hospital immediately after the crash and is doing fine, while the 46-year-old man did not suffer any serious injuries. The 71-year-old woman, it seems, declined medical treatment at the scene but was admitted to a hospital later that evening. She died Oct. 21.
As we said, this is a dramatic and extremely sad illustration of why people who are in car accidents should not rush to assume that “everything is fine” after a car accident. Working with an attorney after a car crash is often a good idea. I serve communities in Virginia, Maryland and the D.C. area — if you think it would be helpful to speak with a personal injury lawyer, please contact me at any time.
