Truck Accident Closes D.C. Beltway For Hours

A disastrous accident involving two tractor-trailers shut down a good portion of the inner loop of the D.C. Beltway for hours earlier this month.
According to ABC 7, early in the morning of Oct. 10, a tractor-trailer pulling a mobile home was southbound on Route 50 when it struck a semi truck pulling two trailers.
The mobile home came detached and collided with a passenger vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was taken to Prince George’s Hospital with injuries that were described as serious. It isn’t known how that injured person is doing now.
It does not appear that anyone in the two tractor-trailers was injured.
Traffic was diverted to Route 450 for several hours so that authorities could clean up and investigate the truck accident.
It will be awhile before we know for sure what happened here, but a lesson that can be learned immediately is that tractor-trailers can be dangerous vehicles. To put it simply, they are large, heavy and difficult to drive. When something goes wrong, as it clearly did here, the results can be devastating for innocent people.
If you are ever injured in an accident with a semi, 18-wheeler or tractor-trailer, you would be wise to investigate whether you have any legal options. The same goes for car and motorcycle accidents.
